In lieu of the one year anniversary of Coalmine Records' decennary compilation album, Unearthed, mixed by DJ Revolution, the Brooklyn-based indie is pleased to present the J57 Remix of the El Da Sensei featured favorite, "Show Stoppa," which boasts Sweden's DJ Devastate and Young Pacino on the hook duties, over J's head nodding remix. To further celebrate the milestone, Coalmine's pleased to release a limited edition run of Unearthed on cassette. Dubbed the 'Green Slimes' for being pressed on green shells, the hour long mix serves as a who's who of today's independent Hip-Hop scene, packed with features from both veteran and burgeoning emcees such as Pharoahe Monch, Kool G Rap, Large Professor, The Artifacts, Blu, Sean Price, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.), Big Noyd, One Dae, Skillz, Guilty Simpson, Rah DIgga, Maffew Ragazino, El Da Sensei, and Fashawn, among others. Producers tapped include Diamond D, Nottz, Ayatollah, Marco Polo, Khrysis, along with the Grammy Award Winning, M-Phazes, among others.

Whether you were a tagger, a b-boy/girl or a Hip-Hop head, The Artifacts were one of the best to do it on the underground scene back in the day. Its been nearly 20 years since the release of their debut album Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and if you're curious to know how the former Boom Skwad representative El Da Sensei holds up on the mic in 2014, you'll see that he hasn't lost a step with his latest effort, "Show Stoppa." Featuring a sparse and bouncy beat with sharp cuts supplied by DJ Devastate, the jam has the New Jeruz native dropping bombs like it was 94' all over again. "Show Stoppa" is taken from Coalmine Records' forthcoming compilation album Unearthed (Mixed by DJ Revolution) which is scheduled to drop on May 13th via CD and digital download.. stay tuned!

"We never went gold or platinum, but we stood for a lot," says El Da Sensei of his original group, The Artifacts. This October will mark 20 years since the Newark, New Jersey duo released their Atlantic Records-backed Between A Rock And A Hard Place, spawning hits like "C'Mon With The Get Down" and "Da Wrong Side Of The Tracks."
Within, El and partner Tame One helped pioneer intricate wordplay and complex rhyme patterns, transmitting messages of smoking an abundance of herb, vandalizing trains with graffiti, and enjoying a Tri-State lifestyle that seems list in today's high-rise luxury apartments, hiked fares, and designer drugs (click here to continue reading).
